Haslemere hosts world premiere of new chamber works by local composer Clive Osgood

HHH Concerts launches its 2024 – 2025 season with the exciting premiere of works from a new album - Chamber Works – written by local composer, Clive Osgood. Mr. Osgood is a classical composer, accompanist, organist and music teacher living near Haslemere.

On the Convivium Records label, he has five albums under his belt with excellent reviews. On September 6th, Convivium Records will launch this new album of Clive Osgood’s Chamber Works performed by world-renowned The Tippett Quartet with Lisa Friend (Flute) and Lynn Arnold (Piano).

Clive Osgood shared:

“These pieces, based largely on the compositional frameworks of great 18th-century chamber music including the string quartet and piano trio, have also been inspired by my love of more recent musical ideas and styles.

My ideal is a fusion of old and new, where the music is both grounded in a definable structure and given the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic freedom to appeal to a broad spectrum of performers and listeners – I enjoy the challenge of fusing ideas and styles together into something that is both approachable and accessible.

It’s not about creating something entirely new, but about finding and sharing a voice that has become so much a part of me, and of my musical journey.”

Clive has connections with many local organisations including Excelsis Choir (Composer), Haslemere Musical Society (Composer), Charterhouse School (Composer), St. Bartholomew’s Church (Director of Music and Organist), The Waverley Ensemble (Accompanist), Imagine That Productions (Composer, A Midsummer Night's Dream 2017) and SMA Three Counties Ensemble (Accompanist).

Stephen Dennison told This is Haslemere:

“It was an honour to be approached by Convivium Records to host the first performance of compositions by Clive Osgood from his new CD. He is our local star. Mr. Osgood has supported so many musical organisations in Haslemere and we are honoured to provide a platform for him in Haslemere.”

Tickets for the premiere at 7.30pm on 14th September at St. Christopher’s Church are available now. The full programme from HHH Concerts is available to view via their website http://hhhconcerts.org.uk. Cavatina Trust supports free concert places for HHH Concerts for those aged 8 to 25.
